The store started to tell make-up, accessories, and even household goods! Mary Quant later had a whole company just for her make-up, which she called Mary Quant Ltd. It can be argued that Mary Quant and her store were most popular in the 1960’s into the early 1970’s. The Bazaar shop single-handedly started a new wave in fashion. Her youthful easy-to-wear clothing became so popular that in 1963, she launched a lower-priced ready-to-wear range called Ginger Group. They were sold in the most fashionable cities in Europe, like Paris and London. London (made) Mary Quant’s first boutique, Bazaar, opened in Londons Kings Road in 1955, launching a successful fashion career. They first started to ship to the United States in 1963, and throughout the rest of the world later on in the 1960’s. The designs were quickly shipped to other stores all over the world. The Bazaar opened up its second store in 1961. In just a few years, the Bazaar, and the clothes that were designed for it were a hit. Quant and her business partners designed many of the clothes themselves. Some of the best-selling clothing items were miniskirts and shirts with fun patterns on them. The store focused on selling colorful clothing for both men and women. Amongst all of her triumphs here is a dive into the past to relive the era which she helped flourish into something way more than the clothing she created. The three named their new store, the Bazaar. The Victoria and Albert museum have honoured the work of the phenomenal designer Mary Quant, a fashion icon who shaped the fsahion industry into what it is today. The job did not pay much, and she left to start her own business with two friends, Archie McNair and Alexander Plunket-Greene, who had gone to college with her.
